Your Post-Death Life Review

Learner:   After the life we are living now on Earth ends and we return to the Astral Plane, you guys say that we have to review our lives in depth. Exactly what does this mean? You can’t mean that we have to sit for however many years we lived on Earth and watch every single minute of our lives, can you?

Spirit: No, that is not what we mean, but it is not because of time. Remember that we do not experience linear time here. If you want to think of time at all, think of it as a loop, as a circle that has no beginning, and no end. So if you wanted to re-live every moment of a 100-year life on Earth, you could certainly do it here, and it would not seem like 100 years seems on Earth.


But the reason that we do not do this is intent. It is actually your own energy that requires you to look at your life, but God does require that you never have to do this alone. There are Guides who work here solely as facilitators for Life Reviews. That is their chosen field of work. In your society, you have workers who choose to help people whose bodies are dying prepare to transition back Home. You also have workers who choose to help people who lose loved ones in traumatic and sudden ways. Your Home here has workers who choose similar types of jobs assisting souls as they readjust to life away from the physical planes.

You must let your recent physical life go once you arrive back Home or you will not be able to move on in any way. But in order to let that life go, to put it in its proper place, so to speak, to archive it and file it in the Hall of Akashic Records, you must first review it. A major reason for this is so that you learn from your mistakes. That is very important. How can you move on to another stage of development if you do not yet know what you have learned and what you have failed to learn and what caused those failures?

But it is just as important that you also review your life in order to remember your successes. Some of your growth will not have been charted. It will not have been planned. Much of what you learn will happen because before you returned to the Earthplane, you set yourself up with many opportunities to learn something that your soul, your essence, needs to learn in order to advance itself. But along the way, there will be some things that you will learn spontaneously, or as you would say, "by accident."

It is important that, in addition to your failures to learn, you carefully review all the times you successfully accomplished a lesson. It is important that you not miss another step of growth you achieved even though it wasn’t actually written into your plan. Remember that you and everyone you encounter during your life on Earth have Free Will. The choices you make and the choices others make may bring you an unexpected chance to grow, and you will realize this fully during your review. So yes, you must review, but for most souls, a Life Review, while usually emotional in some areas, holds just as much opportunity for pleasant lessons as for unhappy realizations.

As I said, you will be led by one or two Facilitators who are the trained experts in this field. In addition, if you request it, you will usually be permitted to be accompanied by at least one or two of the Guides from your incarnation. There will also be times when others will join you, such as when the Facilitators schedule a meeting between you and someone that you interacted with on Earth – that is, if that soul has returned Home before you.

If he or she has not yet returned, then you will review the incident with your Helpers. Then when that soul returns Home, you will be contacted to come to his or her Life Review for the meeting. It may be something as simple as the two of you working for a better understanding of exactly why you told her a lie about something important to both of you, or why you never confronted him about a lie he told you when doing so would have offered you both an improved opportunity for a harmonious relationship. Or it could be as complicated as trying to understand deep harm the two of you caused yourselves and others by your agreed-upon attitude about a certain group of people or a certain philosophy of life.

It is vital that souls never attempt to move on without first understanding the physical lives they have just left. On the positive side, you may be joined by someone who was deeply touched, changed in some positive way, by an action that you considered a small gesture, one that you probably will have forgotten entirely until you are reminded during your Life Review. Or perhaps you adjusted your life in a way that made serious changes, maybe long-term changes,

in order to help someone else. An action like that would not come as a surprise to you, but it still needs to be recalled and discussed. Maybe you would not realize how much you helped a stranger in a grocery store line during the one very brief exchange you had, or with another stranger as you both washed your hands in a public restroom and made what was mostly "small talk," except for when you said something that, unbeknownst to you, renewed his will to continue living on the Earthplane.

So you see, a Life Review is not merely a recitation of your mistakes. Yes, you will most definitely have to live through again and understand the essence of your intentionally unkind acts to others and to yourself, but you will also be bathed again in the Light you offered yourself and others during your life on Earth.

The Life Review is often presented chronologically in Earth time simply because you will still be thinking largely in linear time when you arrive Home, and so that method will seem logical and comfortable to you. This method also allows you to adjust to the process a little better, since your infant and early childhood days will seldom bring you cause for consternation. If you were affected by the actions of others – for example, if you were beaten or otherwise harmed by an adult during your childhood – then this will definitely be reviewed and discussed with the soul who harmed you.

This will be done at the time of your Review, if possible, or later, if that soul is not yet available on the Astral Plane. As you view yourself growing old enough to be accountable for your decisions, then you will need to understand the times you bullied another child or the times your actions harmed someone else or inhibited your own spiritual growth. You will not have to review and explain things like why you stuck your tongue out at your sister multiple times in the month you turned ten years of age or why, when you were twelve, you chose to surreptitiously lick your older brother’s cereal spoon each morning before he arrived at the table. Things that have no bearing on your spiritual growth will not matter to your Life Review. If you want to look at them or have questions about them, they are certainly available to you. There is no rush, no limit on how long you are given to complete a Life Review.

However, the things that are the true focal points in your Life Review will be the actions you or others took that endangered your opportunity to grow spiritually or the actions you took and the choices you made that harmed others in this same way. This is what you must understand. Together, you and your team of Helpers will work within the Light to discover what happened and how it happened, and then, most importantly, why it happened.

Once you know this, then you will know how to proceed. The object of a Life Review is to give you the best chance to grow closer to the Light. So, while none of us enjoy having to realize what we did wrong and why, it is important to remember that the purpose is to help us. Just as there are few people who jump in Joy when told they must have open heart surgery, those who think about it carefully often realize that the end result will leave them in much better health and with a much more positive prognosis for vigorous life. The same is true of your Life Review.
