Past Life Knowledge

Learner: I am curious about my past lives, of course. But beyond curiosity, what difference does it make to me now to know about all of my past lives?

Spirit: You don’t want to know about all of your past lives, Learner, and you won’t. It is usually impossible. You have lived many times. You have lived as male and female; you have lived as various races, spoken many different languages in many dialects. You have lived in various social classifications, rich, poor, middle of the road. You have been obnoxious and mean and loving and sweet. You have been too soft spoken for your own good and too loud and intrusive for other people’s good. So why don’t we just tell you you have lived in many different ways and be done with it? Why do you still find out about certain lives?

Because the life contains a lesson that you need to study while you are still living on Earth in your present body. You are being given a gift by being told some of the details of a past life, because if you are communicating with Guides from the Light, with us, with your Teachers and your Guardian Angels, you will ONLY be told about a life or lives that hold lessons that make a difference for you today. You know how many people in your culture joke that they lived as Cleopatra? Well, this is the thing: Unless your life as Cleopatra would help you with your present life, then who gives a hoot what your name was and whether or not it was known. Cleopatra’s bath servant may have learned more lessons and have more to offer a present incarnation.

You also hear of karma as if you have always been a bad boy or girl in a past life and are being punished now. Usually you say this when there is someone you have to work with that you don’t like or when you have a job to do that you don’t want to do. You are funny on Earth, you know? But the reason you are told of a past life may be because that life was lived within such love and light that you need to study it and bring some of that into your present life. Maybe you need to realize that you already learned a lesson that you are struggling with now. It can be very freeing to learn about a past life. Usually you won’t be told what the lesson was until you delve into it and study it awhile. We are your Teachers. We want you to think. We want you to figure things out yourself, or at least to figure out good questions for us. Then we will be glad to help you. But we are not going to do your homework for you.

It can also be that you are repeating a lifestyle or reaction to fear that you have used as a coping mechanism, or as some of you say, as a "cop-out" in past lives. By making you aware of one or more lives that show this pattern, we want you to think about this and realize it and then make a change. What good does it do for you to say, "Oh yes, I did this same goofy thing in three past lives," if you don’t make any effort to change the goofy thing into something that will have better impact on your present life or the lives of those within your present circle on the Earthplane?

So whenever you are made aware of the details of one or two past lives, you should immediately know that we are offering you a gift, a way to grow. There is an area in your PRESENT life where you can apply the lessons learned (or not learned) in these past lives and make some advancement, grow spiritually… Try to pay attention and take advantage of these lessons offered by your teachers so that in your next incarnation, if you must have one, you will not have to encounter the same lessons that you keep refusing to learn life after life after life.

Sometimes, though, you will be told of a life in which you exhibited great strength, great love, great light, and where the only lesson to be applied from that life to this one is to bring those qualities into play in your current life. Maybe you are living in too much fear, not enough self-confidence, not enough bravery. In those cases, it may give you the "oomph" you need to see what your soul is capable of. These types of past live revelations are a call for you to find your inner strength and put it to use in your current life. These are meant to be like Vitamin B12 injections to give you the lift you need to get yourself back into shape so you don’t slip back into Fear in this life.

Learning about past lives is always an opportunity to grow, always a gift. Take advantage of it. Let us help you. We are good tutors.
