Are Guides Really Able to Help You?

Learner: What is the use of believing and trying to learn from you Guideds if we still have so many difficulties and worries and bad things happen to us during our lives on Earth?

Spirit: Why do you go to school, my children, if you will still grow up, become adults, get jobs and have families whether you study or not? You want to learn things that will make the rest of your lives go a little easier. Do I not speak straight? If you can add your numbers, perhaps you will have an easier time when you must buy and sell. Yes? If you can read, you will have an easier time whenever there is written information that you need to understand. Yes?

We are not teaching you in order to eliminate your difficulties and worries and what you call the "bad things" that during your lives on Earth. That is exactly what Guides must not do, just as your Teachers in your schools on Earth must not complete their students’ homework assignments for them or take their examinations for them. That is not our purpose, and you must not expect that of us. We are here to teach you skills that can help you. These skills include things to think about and remember when you encounter the rocks that block your path. We are teaching you ways that might make it easier to remove the rock or to find a way around or over it.

We may even help you discover a reason to be glad you found the rock blocking your way! But we are not here to stop the rock from appearing in your path, or to remove the rock before you get there, or to set you on a detour before you have a chance to make your own decision about what you will do when you are stopped by the rock. That would be wrong for us to do. It might seem loving to you, just as a steady diet of ice cream might seem loving to a very young child. But it will not help you grow strong and healthy. That is what we intend our lessons to do – give you helpful advice and new points of view or reminders of things you have forgotten to consider. That is all these classes are meant to do, children, just teach you the life skills that can help strengthen you during your firewalks on Earth.

Learner: How come sometimes our Guides and Angels interfere with natural laws in order to prevent harm to us and other times things happen and we get badly hurt or very sick? Sometimes it feels like a "crap shoot," to be honest. I mean, who decides when you guys help us and when you don’t? Does it depend on whether or not we ask for help or whether or not we have been living a spiritual life? What is the use of even praying for protection from harm if sometimes it is not going to be answered?

Spirit: This is a very good question. It surely must sometimes seem confusing to you living on Earth, but let us look at this. Have you children or pets to care for, others who are your responsibility to watch over? Do you not want to protect them from all harm? Of course you do. Do you want to help them learn everything that they need to learn in order to be happy and to grow and to be healthy? Of course you do. You work hard to do this, do you not? If you love the child or the animal, you give careful thought to its diet and try to provide all the proper nutrients, along with just enough treats to give them little surprises and enjoyments without spoiling their health. You give them games to intrigue them and encourage them to play with each other and with the toys. You play with them sometimes, and other times you provide them with a playmate of their own age or species. You keep them out of busy highways when they are small.

For human children, as they grow there comes a time when they must encounter high traffic areas without you. Animals must often be left alone in the home, and even in a home where you have taken every precaution, there are sometimes still ways the animal can be hurt despite all your efforts. Maybe it will play too hard with a playmate and get bitten or kicked hard enough to injure it. Maybe it will chew a toy open while you are away and eat the insides before you can take the toy away. There are all sorts of things that can happen. Now… are you going to lock your child or your animal in a padded room to be safe? Or are you instead going to work to teach it everything you can before it is time to let it be on its own?

Your Guides work to teach you before you incarnate and again as often as you will allow them once you are consciously communicating with them. But they are not able to wrap you in cotton or place you in a padded room. They cannot interfere with your choices, and they cannot interfere with the choices of others. If we were permitted to do this, all the Earthplane’s problems with negative occurrences would immediately disappear!

We talk often about Free Will, and maybe you think we are just using it as an excuse, but think about this. We love you at least as much as you love your children and your animals. If you work to keep them safe, then assume that we work to the limit that we are allowed to keep you safe. If Free Will was eliminated from God’s requirement as part of the human design, then immediately, no criminals would be successful in their attempts to harm others. Bombs would not explode and guns would not fire. There would be no thefts, no torture, no tyranny.

We would simply step in and prevent it all. After all, wouldn’t you do that for your children if it was allowed and if it would not harm their development? But we cannot. The answer to your question about why we sometimes don’t prevent you from being harmed or injured is because we could not. It is never because we did not want to help you! Never! We were either trying to direct you to a safer place or safer action or trying to direct the other person not to take the action they took.

Do you dare to imagine for one moment that there were not hundreds of Guides trying to redirect the intentions of the pilots of darkness on September 11th? Or of the plans of men such as Milosevic or Stalin? Do you think that we do not agonize when we hear pleas for help that we cannot answer?
