FREE SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

This site was created in the hopes of spreading the awareness and knowledge taught to us from our Spiritual Teachers and the messages we carry with us through this life and into the next. The site is an ongoing reference point for all interested learners.

The Spirit Guides' lessons shared here were taught during more than twenty years of friendship with and communication through Patricia Walton, a highly respected spiritual medium and channel.

Though several spirit master teacher guides were channeled, for the sake of simplicity we will call them "Spirit"

Is anger always a cover up for other feelings?

Spirit:  Anger is only a surface feeling.  You may hear others say that they are "deeply angry," or that their anger "runs deep" or similar phrases.  Nevertheless, there is always a need to work through the anger.  By that I mean to allow yourself to feel the anger and then to let it go so that you can, in essence, peel back or remove, shed, that anger layer, in order to move on to what lay beneath it, to the cause for the anger.  Anger is not a cause in and of itself.  It is a reactive feeling.  It is often used to hide true feelings, and sometimes this is necessary and effective – for a time.

Someone caught in a battle for their life or the life of others may find that allowing rage to overtake them gives them the ability to properly defend themselves or others with whose protection they are charged.  They may not be able to reach this same level of effectiveness if they focus on their soul’s true need to appreciate the goodness, the Light, in all mankind.  I am not teaching that rage is preferred to soul awareness; of course not.  But I am saying that there is a way and a time when rage can be used to preserve lives and protect what is precious to someone.

The sad part is that for a soul to heal and rid itself of such anger, at some point that rage will have to be felt fully and then moved aside so that the underlying feelings can be felt – the fear, the sadness.  These deeper feelings cannot be ignored forever for a soul to stay healthy and grow spiritually.  One cannot carry the rage of battle inside oneself throughout life and still grow in Light and wisdom.

So yes, anger is always a surface emotion.  When it is encountered in one’s meditations or other quiet times of contemplation, it is a signal to allow yourself to feel that anger fully and then to do the harder spiritual work of moving through or past that anger to the causative factors and then deal with your feelings about those issues and the feelings they produce.

When the anger is about something such as childhood physical, emotional, or verbal abuse, for example, doing this kind of spiritual work is not easy.  It takes great determination, and great faith in the help of those on this side such as loved ones, guides, and angels.  This kind of anger can continue through generations and endanger the spiritual progress of not only the abused one but his or her children or others influenced by that soul.

There is a tremendous amount of help available from this side when such efforts are made by the Learner still on Earth, because we know that if that Learner can find the strength to resolve this type of pain, he or she is truly freeing not only his own future lives but those of all he interacts with.  He does this work for himself and for everyone who will be influenced by the pain he has endured.

Nothing we ever experience and overcome benefits only ourselves.  And nothing we ever experience and succumb to, unable to strengthen ourselves enough to grow past it, ever harms only ourselves.  We are not alone here on this side, and we are most certainly not alone when we incarnate to the Earth or other physical planes.  We are connected, and everything we do affects those around us and those who come after us.

It is with this in mind that we want to try to approach our efforts to face our feelings of anger and what lies beneath them.  These feelings and the results they have caused or allowed will not disappear by being ignored until you are Home.  You will absolutely face them here, whether you want to or not, but you may also then have to explore why you did not deal with them where and when you became aware of them on Earth, before so many others could be harmed by them, and when so many others could be helped by your efforts to heal yourselves.
