About Being a Spirit Guide

Spirit: No soul becomes a Guide for incarnate Learners while unaware of many potential situations that they may encounter guiding their Learner. We must learn to overcome Earth’s negativity and love our Learner just as he or she is. Before we can work as Guides, we have what on Earth you would call intensive psychological reviews and introspective studies to see why we want to guide. We have ample opportunity to find out if we cannot do this work right now, or if maybe we don’t really want to do it after all. So by the time we are ready to guide, we know ourselves very well, and we have studied not only ourselves, but much about the nature of those incarnated on a physical plane. Then once we are assigned to a particular soul, we begin to bring our knowledge about that Learner up to date.

Learner: When a grandfather dies, and a baby is born that he never got to meet on Earth, can the grandfather be a Guide to his grandson?

Spirit: Yes, the grandfather can guide if he chooses to do so – but never without completing the requirements of what we call, for your understanding, the Guide School. What you need to realize, though, is that time is different here, because linear time belongs only on physical planes such as the Earth. On Earth a year or two would not be long enough to graduate from a school with so many challenging lessons as our Guide School has, it could certainly be long enough here. It is very difficult for us to explain to you what we mean when we say that we live in a permanent sense of NOW, but that is the case. We refer to past and future for the ease of your understanding, but here there is really no such thing. There is only NOW.

So yes, it is possible for a grandfather to become a Guide, as long as he does not require extensive therapeutic guidance upon his arrival here. In other words, someone who has spurned the Light throughout his incarnation would not be able to guide until he had grown spiritually. It is also possible that the grandfather has already been educated and approved as a Guide before his incarnation, and in that case, the grandfather could request permission to take advantage of this previously learned information. He would still have to be approved before he could guide again, but having the necessary information within would allow him to access it quickly

Spirit: It is impossible for you to know all of our thoughts and feelings. We do know more of you and can read more of you than you can of us. That is intentional, because we are committed to bringing you more of what you cannot see, hear, smell, touch, or taste on Earth. It is our job to be able to know more of you. If we did not, we would not be able to Guide you well.

Spirit: After souls return Home from physical incarnations, we grow away from our lives on Earth. Did you know this? We grow away. We speak to you of the times we lived upon the Earth, because we want you to know that we have walked similar paths as those you find yourselves presently upon.. We want you to believe that we can understand what you are experiencing. Many of us have lived on Earth, and so when one whom we love is planning to reincarnate again, we review our lives on Earth, and we try hard to present ourselves as beings that you can feel safe with, that you can feel understand you and your problems.

Spirit: Let me give you a small example of my own recent preparation: In one of my recent incarnations, I had a great deal of pain with the large toe. In that life, my toe was swollen and it was very painful. When I prepared to work as a Guide, I remembered that life on Earth. I had to maintain physical form for a time in order to experience the pain that I felt in that life, and when I did the painful large toe was again prominent. It was difficult to walk. The entire focus of my being was often my large and swollen and very red toe. If we are Home for a long while, we may forget things like this. With this required lesson, when I was experiencing life as if I were in that physical body again, my toe was often all that mattered. I learned something in a very graphic way in order to re-establish my humanity and my humility. A sore big toe can seem trivial and very funny to others, but if you are the one whose toe is sending great messages of pain, it is not at all funny, and at times there is very little else that matters to you.

It can become very difficult for you to focus on growing spiritually during times of physical pain and hampered physical mobility. This is but one small lesson, but I say this to show you that we are not oblivious to the smallest of your problems. Our own Teachers will not allow us to be. In order to be your Guides, we must understand and respect these kinds of things. We must know it from experience, not merely have it on paper, so to speak. We must know it here in our hearts.

Spirit: It is a very dangerous path, it is as hanging from a rope above a boiling cauldron of oil, for us to begin to believe that we are only Teachers and have nothing which we must learn. Were that true, we would be beyond communication with the physical plane. When a soul attains such a state of knowing, it has completed its life cycle and is ready to join the great energy you call God, the energy of total and unconditional Love. Those who are communicating with you are able to see, perhaps, from a higher viewing place, but indeed they also are still seeking to learn.

Spirit: A Guide has responsibilities to his Learner and to his fellow Guides. A Master Teacher Guide has these same responsibilities to a greater degree, and Masters are expected to generate Light from within themselves.

As Master Teacher Guides, if we do not continue to learn, then we will soon no longer be able to teach. This is true both here and there on Earth. Stagnation does not work. You either grow or you cease to exist. Growth is something that was begun when we were all created, and something to which we must all attend. We want you to know that you help us. We hear you thanking us and thanking God for our guidance. We want you to know that we also thank God for the chance to learn through being your Guides and through working with you and through trying to help you. Through searching out ways that we can help you better, we grow. We all help each other. So we thank you and send you our love and our extra blessings for allowing this communication.
